The COVID-19 pandemic is causing massive disruptions to economies, businesses, and markets across the world. JETRO will therefore hold a series of webinars featuring the economic impacts of COVID-19 on the various sectors and industries of Japan. Join our webinars to stay informed about the current situation in Japan.


The focus of this fourth webinar will be on the status of Japan's biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries from both before and during the pandemic, and how the current crisis may impact its future. There will also be a brief discussion on how the general economy of Japan is being affected.

Nagasaki Yuta, Invest Japan Promotion Division at JETRO

Nagasaki Yuta is a researcher of the Invest Japan Department at JETRO. His research focuses on inward foreign direct investment to Japan and covers a wide range of related topics including the business environment and  business operations of foreign-affiliated companies in the country.

Ushida Masayuki, Drug Discovery & Biotechnology Advisor at JETRO

Ushida Masayuki's past business experience includes investment banking, serving as the CEO/CFO of different biotechnology startups, and being an incubation manager for academic entrepreneurs. Based on his multifaceted business experience, he now offers valuable advice and support to biotechnology and healthcare startups, particularly in fundraising and partnering.
