US international payment service company for foreign students Flywire establishes corporation in Tokyo

Flywire, an American company engaged in international payment settlement services based on the state of the art Fintech (financial technology) system, is making secure, easy, and low cost international remittance services possible for foreign students.

During the seven years since its foundation in the US state of Massachusetts in 2009 as a company that provides school payment settlement services for foreign students, Flywire has expanded its business for students at more than 1,200 educational institutions in 220 countries and regions around the world dealing with more than 70 currencies.

Japan is a unique and attractive market for Flywire because Japan is drawing a growing number of students from abroad and providing various types of educational institutions for them. The company wants to establish a business model in Japan and bring it to other countries in the Asia Pacific region to further expand its business.

For the establishment of Flywire’s subsidiary in Japan, the JETRO Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided support for the company including provision of an office, market information, the opportunity for business matching and referral to service providers.
